Empire Friendship Firefighters Association

The Empire Hook and Ladder Co. and Friendship Fire Co. formed the Empire Friendship Firefighters Association on January 15th, 1992. The purpose of this organization was to build and maintain a joint fire station to be utilized by the Empire and Friendship Fire companies. Both companies’ stations were cramped and inefficient for operations of the modern fire service. The cooperation of the companies allowed the borough to go from four to three operating fire stations. After a study in 2005 recommended that the separate Empire and Friendship Fire Companies consolidate their operations under the Empire Friendship organization, this process was facilitated by the Borough of Carlisle and the merger was completed on July 2nd, 2006.
